It happens generally that you are having very secure data in your computer and you do not want this data to be hacked or be damaged by the attack of viruses, So , your are left with two ways to keep this data secure : one is by disconnecting your system from any network like internet, intranet, etc and second is to disable USB ports for any virus attack from PEN DRIVES , MEMORY CARDS, etc.

So here in this post I'll teach you ho to enable or disable USB Ports in Microsoft Windows Operating System.

Steps to Enable or disable USB Ports In Microsoft Windows :

1. Firstly open RUN in your Microsoft windows by pressing "Windows + R" key and type "regedit" in RUN to open Registry Editor as shown below :

Here is the Registry Editor when you click on "OK" in RUN :

2. After opening Registry Editor , browse on the left panel and go to the following path as shown below and open UBSTOR :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/USBSTOR

After opening USBSTOR on the left panel, you will see many options on the right panel and in the right panel click on "Start" as shown below :

3. After clicking on "Start" as highlighted by red square as shown in above window a new small window wil open as shown in the figure below :

Now in this small window you just have to change the value in "Value Data " field to enable or disable USB ports. The change of  "Value data" is sa shown below :

  • Change the value from 3 to 4 to disable USB ports
  • Change the value again from 4 to 3 to enable USB ports
Now protect your sensitive data from the attack of virus with this cool trick.
